WHAT will the outcome look like when you achieve it?
Your purpose needs vision (the destination) and outcomes (what you expect to find when you arrive at the destination) that will be measured by your goals (the small steps you are going to take daily).
Your vision (“Where am I going”) is where you aspire to be in the future. It keeps you on a focused direction to fulfil your purpose in life. Your vision statement is an articulation of what you desire to achieve in the future.
Goals are the measurable milestones that mark your progress towards achieving your vision. They are SMARTER steps that will move you in a planned direction that you want to go.
Giving yourself even five minutes per day to orient your life in the direction of your goals is the difference between success and average. When you do not give yourself time, every single day, to orient your life in the direction you want to go, you will default to former habits and unhelpful patterns.
When life gets busy and stressful, it is so easy to forget what you want, to disconnect from your purpose and priorities, to fall into autopilot and go through the motions.
It is also easy to watch several weeks, or months go by and realise that you have not achieved.
Distraction fuels the need for more distraction. It is easy to focus on the constraints of your circumstances rather than the power of your personality. Ultimately, indecision and inaction can lead to the loss of confidence, motivation, and hope.
