Defining your main goals
The types of goals we set for ourselves will always be one or more of the following:
- They are stepping-stones that lead us closer towards reaching our vision.
- Our vision – Our greatest ‘purpose’ in life will be guided by our vision. A vision will typically not be achievable in one or two simple steps. It will take us the journey of a lifetime to accomplish it.
- Long-term main goals – These are long-term goals we set for each of our seven primary life areas, which will lead us towards fulfilling our vision.
- Medium-term milestone goals – These are the milestone goals in-between the first immediate steps that we need to take and our long-term main goals.
- Short-term mini-goals – These goals allow our medium-term milestone goals to be ‘broken down’ further into smaller, bite-size chunks. It will make them more manageable and achievable. They are stepping-stones that lead us closer towards reaching our vision.
Your vision can only be realised through the achievement of your long-term main goals in various areas of your life. And you can only achieve your long-term main goals through fulfilling your medium-term milestone goals, which can only be met through accomplishing your short-term mini goals.
